We have won this award not as a result of expensive marketing campaigns or strategic business decisions but because we have inspired and influenced these women. Forgotten wardrobes full of dark clothing and boring patterns are now filled with colour and sparkle, mirroring the spark they have rediscovered in themselves. By showcasing real women wearing real clothes during our Weekly Lives, it allows our customers to relate and reclaim their style. The person they once were is back and ready to take on the world and that is all I could have ever wished for.”

]]>One customer, Tasha Cockram enjoyed a personal shopping experience with owner Mel last weekend and was made to feel like part of the family, after entering the festive Advent competition.
Tasha, who visits the Cleethorpes store three times a week, and Louth once a week, said: “I love Tilletts. I’m so excited. I’ve made friends with all the team as I go in so often.”
The lucky winner spent the morning with Mel, owner of the women’s retail brand. Mel chose outfits for her that Tasha admitted she would never have chosen herself.
“Mel chose me clothes that were different to my own choice. But I really liked them. I was surprised as I never would have worn a peach coloured dress, but it looked great on” added Tasha.
Mel said she’d been looking forward to being a personal shopper as it was something she rarely got chance to do now the operation has grown.
“I was so looking forward to this. Tasha was lucky enough to win day 12 of the advent calendar, which was a shopping experience with myself.
“So many people entered the competition and Tasha was lucky to win. I’m pleased she loved what I chose for her.”
Tasha came away with bags of goodies and said she had thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had been made to feel like one of the family by all the staff.
And in the same weekend, we also welcomed Cheryl Meadwell, from Preston who entered the competition and won an all expenses paid trip to Cleethorpes.
Cheryl, who visited the Cleethorpes store once last November on her birthday in a flying visit, said: “I love Tilletts. It was my mum who introduced me to them and so I was thrilled when I won and could bring her with me.
"I got the text on Boxing Day and was so excited. I normally never win anything and to win this was unbelievable."
Her mum Maureen Dobson accompanied her daughter, which saw them stay at the Burlington Hotel and enjoy a sumptuous dinner at Relish, and also treated to a trip round the shop with Mel.
Cheryl added: “We had so much fun trying on all the clothes. My mum felt like a kid in a sweet shop. She loves to touch and feel the clothes.
“I love Tilletts as it’s clothing for real women, and the fact it’s a family run business shows as they really care about their customers.”
The winners enjoyed trying on clothes from the new Spring collection, which they all agreed was stunning and colourful.
"It was nice for mum to try on the clothes and meet everyone as she's not one for buying on line, but this has given her the confidence to call the order line now," added Cheryl.
Melanie Tillett, owner, said: “It was fabulous to meet them all and show off the resort and all we have to offer.
“We’re delighted that Tillett’s is bringing in people, especially out of season. We’re passionate about this area and love the fact our customers want to travel.
“We have customers who make detours on their holiday to come to the seaside. We’re reaching people far and wide through our Facebook Live and it’s fabulous.
"Cleethorpes has so much to offer with great restaurants and bars, and places to stay."
Before leaving Cheryl said she would be returning and her mum also planned to come back with her husband for a weekend break.
Tillett's and Cleethorpes look forward to welcoming them all back!

]]>Located on the Iberian Peninsula, Spain has been a holiday destination for Brits for years.
The sun, sea and sand have seen tourists flock to its resorts, while the younger generation head for the Balearic Islands. And it’s here on the eastern island of Menorca that a traditional sandal can be found called the Avarca.
These simple, modest sandals are based on the humble, functional shoes that farmers and fieldworkers traditionally wore. Now you can find them in all different colours and designs, from simple to incredibly elegant and expensive.
Melanie Tillett was inspired by Spain and these sandals to bring them back home and sell them in her shops. They are a hand made leather shoe with a rubber sole – traditionally made from car tyres.
“I holiday in Spain a lot,” added Mel, “and it was while on holiday that I did some research and found the factory was down the road from where I was and so I went to visit.”
Spain is renowned for its shoes. It has a large shoe making tradition. Think Manola Blahnik, one of the country’s greatest exports. Shoes in Spain are excellent, stylish, comfortable and affordable – a winning combination.
Mel after much research found a Spanish factory prepared to make her version of the Avarca, which she calls the Madrids in homage to Espana.
The first batch arrived in Tilletts’ shops in April 2016 and went down a storm, being affordable and great for all occasions.
She said: “They’re great for holidays, we even have brides buying the white glitter versions and wearing them at their evening dos.”
In 2017 they have two new designs. The shoes are flat with a rough sole and a strap and come in different colours. They are all hand made out of genuine leather.
Customers are known to travel two hours to get to the shop to try them on.
The Madrids are offered at a great price, but Team Tillett knows there is room for growth. They’re already looking at different styles for next year, as they’ve stayed
basic for the last two.
The team have listened to the customers and are looking to offer different styles and colours.
For Mel branching out like this and being inspired by fashion in other countries is important
“It’s essential to the business that we do this and be one step ahead of the competition and be market leaders,” she added.
“We have a great team behind us and we three are a great team and because of our different ages we can look at what the customer wants in those age brackets and cater for them all.”
Being out there and sourcing different products is key to the business and being inspired by fashion is important to the brand.
Tilletts offers the customer something different that you will not necessarily find on the high street.
In the Madrids, Spain has been a key influence. Next? Italy and France.
